It uses a non-invasive wearable sensor (AcuPebbleTM) to record the respiratory acoustic signals of the patient and then applies sophisticated signal treatment algorithms (AcuCoreTM) to extract from them the main parameters required for the diagnosis and management of a number of important conditions such as Sleep Apnoea, Epilepsy, Whooping Cough, Asthma and COPD.

How it works

    The AcuPebbleTM sensor is fixed to the exterior of the patient’s neck using an adhesive bandage.

    The sensor reads the acoustic signals of the body and optimises them for transmission.

    The acoustic signal is transferred via to a mobile device and then to a secure cloud data platform.

    Several algorithms analyse the signals, filter out the noise and extract the relevant respiratory biomarkers.

    The doctor can remotely access all the patient’s biomarkers and listen to the signals on a mobile or computer.

Biosignals research

The fundamental physical principle behind our wearable sensing technology is that the mechanisms of respiration and cardiac functions generate acoustic signals in the respiratory tract that can be detected externally with a very small acoustic sensor. From this acoustic signal, a variety of physiological and disease related parameters can be obtained, such as lung volumes, apnoeas, breathing rate and heart rate, that are useful for diagnosing and managing several medical conditions.
